Project Summary
VEDA Associates were engaged by J Murphy to carry out the Civil and Track Design for the platform refurbishment works at Attleborough Station. VEDA provided design CRE’s for each of the disciplines, instructed the Surveys and engaged the GI contractor to determine the soil stratigraphy and the soil percolation rates.
Opened by Norfolk Railways on the 30th July 1845, Attenborough Station is on the Breckland line in the east of England and runs between Cambridge and Norwich and is currently operated by Abellio Greater Anglia.
The track design involved a gauge survey of the existing platforms 1& 2 and a track design for a non-standard platform gauge that would accommodate future track lifting and slewing. The civil design included the refurbishment of the existing Norwich end fencing, installation of a new galvanised anti-trespass fence and drainage provisions for both the platforms.
VEDA Associates worked with the client to secure acceptance of the GRIP 5 Stage design to minimise the DRN stage.
