Project Summary
VEDA were appointed by Chartwell Land and New Homes to act as consulting Structural and Civil Engineers for the detailed design stage of two new luxury dwellings in Oxted, Surrey.
The project involved the demolition of the existing dwelling and the construction of two number bespoke four bedroom, two storey dwellings with integral garages, in accordance with NHBC regulations.
The new buildings are supporting via traditional strip footings, situated within the underlying clay strata, with the uppers floors constructed of timber with isolated steelwork. Large clear spans at second floor level and a mansard shaped roof, necessitated the need for a cranked steel frame, forming a 3D skeletal frame. This solution also provided the end user with a clear useable space within the lofts.
